Proud Young Archaeologists receive their certificates at Archaeology Day

We were able to award members of the club their certificates of achievement for the "Trapped in a Tudor Web" project at Archaeology Day on 30th July at the Roman Circus Centre. The others will be posted or awarded when we meet again in September. Our activities included building lego forts, making bead bracelets and necklaces and colouring pictures from fossils to dinosaurs to mosaics and Roman soldiers.
Colchester Archaeological Trust archaeologists arranged talks, sand pit excavations and a recent find 'Washathon'. They explained and arranged handling of artefacts from current digs in Colchester Town Centre. There were tours of the Roman Circus site and an exhibition of the things the Romans ate.
Our YAC video played throughout the event. We showed off our project work, awards and certificates.
And young visitors were proud to show off their CAT archaeologist in training badges!
